Sadrist central media holds its first forum about "electronic media" in Baghdad
With a huge attendance of journalists, media persons and bloggers, Sadrist central media held its first forum under the headline "electronic media and its public opinion effecting speed" in Dijla hall at Baghdad hotel in downtown capital, to raise awareness on the importance of electronic media, and its effeteness on the public opinion.
The forum which was held with the motto "opinions of Iraqi journalists is an important part of a clear national message" was participated by the chairman of the central media Mr Mohamed Al-Kaabi, media academic specialist Dr. Mohamed Rishak and lecturer Dr. Noor Al-Kaisi.
Mohamed Al-Kaabi, chairman of the central media stated, the forum comes as part of many activities, central media is hoping to accomplish, aiming at raising awareness on the importance of electronic media, and its effects on the public opinions, also its part of shaping the events around it, pointing that the subject, with all the importance it has, never got the attention it deserves, taking in account, the simple attempts done here and there to shed some light on it.
Al-Kaabi stressed the importance of increasing the numbers of such secession and forums, regarding electronic media subject, or as its known as "the new media", especially the role of social media sites, in following up with different levels and fields of events.
The central media chairman clarified, that the electronic media is now an important element of media outlets, besides satellite channels, radio stations and newspapers, stressing, that the forums held by the Sadri line, is not exclusive to the sons of the Sadrists, but public to all Iraqis without an exception of a part or side.
From his side, academic Mohamed Rishak spoke of the forum subject, by giving a lecture about media in academic methodology, and its development from a direct contact into a wide public interactive interaction, passing by the invention of media tools since the printer until the open media level, and the difference between the sender and the receivers roles, to the point where the receiver became also a sender at the same.
Rishak confirmed during the forum, that the electronic media effecting capability, become a center of world attention since World Wide Web was introduced extensively, and the emersion of social media on the stage, but the studies about this subject is still late in some parts of the third world, including Iraq, what indicates the necessity of granting the matter attention and knowing its positive, negative sides.
Lecturer Dr. Noor Al-Kaissi, devoted some of the forum time to speak about the risks of the virtual world, the necessity of providing digital security and knowing its details to prevent hacking and espionage operations, whether it is random or methodologized, to ensure the safety of personal data and information of the explorer.
Kaissi pointed out, the responsibility of raising awareness regarding electronic security is on everyone, from the family, educational systems to the governmental institutions, while directing to the use of the safest applications when accessing online, to achieve what is known as safe internet use.
The forum also included a number of interventions by the invited journalists, which contributed in enriching and stimulating the discussion, questions from the attendance where directed to the lecturers, who answered according to their specialty and academic field, before it was concluded with a calling to make similar activities in the near future, which will give the electronic media subject a chance to be a extensive discussion matter, and on a wider base.
Representative of the general secretary of PM council media office with a number of media officials from different Iraqi ministries also attended the forum, along a number of independent journalists from different media institutions in capital Baghdad.
